GEOGRAPHY It is located in the Atlantic Ocean west of Great Britain. Its surface area is 70,273 km², and it has 360 km of borders. Ireland looks like a mountainous country, although the altitudes of its mountains are modest. It is a large ancient massif slightly sunk inside, which has been occupied by sedimentary rocks forming, thus, a rippled plain. The mountains have an altitude of between 150 and 900 meters.
