PUNTILLISM
DEFINITION
Pointillism is a pictorial technique that
consists of representing the application of points that, when viewed from a
certain distance, make up well defined figures and landscapes. In the paintings all the colors are pure and never mix with
each other but it is the eye of the spectator who does it.
It appears for the first time in 1886 because
the painter Georges Seurat
Each of the points that make up the work have a similar size, so that
the viewer can´t fail.
Despite the fact that pointillism is considered as the continuation of
Impressionism.
The pointillist
production center was France, where Seurat and Signac.
Georges Seurat
George Seurat (1859-1891) is considered the initiator of pointillism. Despite his short life,
he has become part of the history of universal art with his works based on the
rationalization of the emotions, scenes and colors.
Paul Signac
The other follower of this technique of pointillism was Paul Signac
(1863-1935) He lives in Paris.
